Tango de Nácar presents a dance-driven program inspired by the great orchestras and composers of the Golden Age — Pugliese, Troilo, Gobbi, Di Sarli and D’Arienzo among others.

With a sound rooted in the 1940s and 50s, the ensemble brings back the pulse, phrasing and character of the classic milongas, offering a repertoire designed for the dance floor.

Clear rhythms, expressive melodies and a strong sense of groove create the perfect atmosphere for tandas that flow naturally — an invitation to dance, connect and stay on the floor all night.

MUSICIANS BIO

TANGO DE NÁCAR

Tango de Nácar is a quintet born from the collaboration of five of the most outstanding musicians in today’s tango scene.

Far beyond a traditional quintet, this ensemble represents a convergence of legacies: decades of experience, personal styles, and musical philosophies woven together to create something deeply new. Like nacre, formed layer by layer over time, Tango de Nácar is a sonic reflection of tango’s history and its ongoing evolution.

Drawing inspiration from the great masters of all times — Pugliese, Piazzolla, Troilo, Gobbi, Salgán, among others — and reimagining their works through original arrangements, the group explores the boundaries of tango and lets them dissolve naturally into other contemporary musical languages.
The result is not a rupture, but a deepening: a dialogue between eras, styles, and identities.

Tango de Nácar is more than a project. It is a luminous offering: a tribute to tango roots, reimagined by this amazing tango musicians.

The ensemble recorded their debut EP album, “Retratos,” released in July 2024, featuring original arrangements that combine sophistication, emotion, and a bold musical vision. (Listen here).
